Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all!!

We had a very busy December.....have a look at what we got up to.

Beebots

Bee-bots are exciting little robots that are perfect for teaching children direction and problem solving. Children worked in small groups to solve puzzles and to program the bee-bots to follow a direction. We had great fun!

Christmas in Room 6

We were busy painting stockings using pattern. We used lots of glitter for Rudolf's nose.

Santa letters

There was great excitement in school that day. We wrote letters to Santa and it was now time to post them off to 'The North Pole'-have a look!

Fun in Santa's Workshop

Children became different characters at the workshop-the elves were busy making toys while Rudolf and Santa were resting up preparing for their big journey ahead.....

 Our beautiful nativity scenes!

Green Halloween

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.....

It's that time of year again where children use their creative skills to design Halloween costumes using recycled materials. Senior Infants made Halloween Crowns using paper, straws, bottle caps, cardboard...you name it! No better way to show off our fantastic hats than to model them in our fashion show. Look at us in action.......

Our Sponsored Walk!

Our annual school walk took place on 5th Oct, 2018. The children got lots of exercise that day and had endless amounts of fun in the playground.

Welcome back!!!

Welcome to our class blog!

Welcome! This blog will help you to keep track of your child's adventures through learning and play.

We have been very busy in Aistear-role play involves children playing with other children. It provides opportunities for children to make friends, to negotiate with others and to develop their communication skills.

Have a look at us in action, acting out roles, occupations and experiences in our pretend play!

Tuesday 29 May 2018

Hello there!

We are now into our final term of Junior Infants! We are really excited for the next couple of weeks as we will have lots of fun things to do eg. sports day and Aistear outside!

We have been busy bees over the past few weeks. Last month we had a visit from Clondalkin Fire Brigade. We got to spray water out of the hose and have a look at the fire engine. A fireman came into our classroom and we got to ask him all about his job! It was really fun and interesting.

We even made fire engines out of our laces!

The week of the 21st of May was 'Be Active'. This meant that every day for one hour we got to go outside and be active. There was loads of different P.E stations such as balancing on a bench/ throwing and catching the beanbags/ basketball and jumping threw hoops, we had so much fun and the weather was so lovely! It's important that we keep active and healthy in school!

We have the school talent show coming up at the end of June and we have been practising our dance routine to showcase for the whole school! If you play Justin Timberlake- Can't stop the feeling for me I will show you my dance moves!!

We have been busy doing loads of Art this month. We have made some pretty glittery butterflies which are on display in the corridor. We read a story called the Hungry Caterpillar and we loved that story. We had to then sequence the story and put it all back together again...which some of us found tricky. We are making a giant caterpillar in Art at the moment out of paper plates and different shades of green, teacher will hang it up in the corridor when we are finished. We will have loads more Art to do before we finish for the summer so keep an eye on our classroom windows and our display boards in the corridor!

A visit to the cafe!

We visited a local cafe and placed and learned how to place an order- chipsticks and a drink please :)

Mothers Day
For Mothers day we made flower baskets. We walked down to the garden centre and we were able to get hands on with the flowers. We had to carefully take three different flowers out of their pots and place them in the basket. The biggest job was getting them back to school as they were quiet heavy!!

Spring has sprung in room 3! We have been busy learning all about the signs of spring. We have done lots of art based on spring such as creating our cherry blossom trees using our finger print, making sheep and learning about the life cycles of hens and frogs. We found the hen life cycle particularly interesting as we have chicks in our school for two weeks. We know what an incubator is, what hatching means and we complete a chick check every morning to see if any of our chicks have hatched!

Every Friday morning we participate in D.E.A.D - drop everything and dance! We get to stop our work and dance! We've got some pretty unique moves!!

Our theme for next month is People who help us so we will learn all about people who help us daily fo example, fire fighters, docotors, dentists, teachers etc. We might even have visitors in to the school so keep an eye on the page for pictures!
